Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn approaching the last turn on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
